This is a well-known handle design for front doors. It comes with the advantage of stopping the door from opening from outside without a key if the lock is not deadlocked. This is achieved with an external handle that is shaped like a pad that locks into the gap between the handle and lock case.
This type of handle is designed to fit uPVC doors with multipoint locks which operate via split spindle technology. This type of operation requires the lever handle and the external pad handle to be installed within the same lock case. This could be a straightforward switch from the current uPVC handles, but it could also require changing the lock case or a new set of handles to accommodate this additional function.
